Rinkah Fire Emblem Guide

I love Rinkah. It’s a bit silly of me because, in general, I find the designs of Fire Emblem Fates quite ugly. Still, in the case of Rinkah, it’s not just that I like her design; she’s one of my favorite characters. She’s one of the few designs I consider good, which also makes sense within the game. It’s not about cheap fan service but a pretty logical sense for the story they want to tell us in the game — a story that tells us about the traditions that we often do not consider within the diversity of peoples and races that exist in the different games.

Fire Emblem Fates is a game that has many diverse races and kingdoms that coexist. However, it is sometimes forgotten because the conflict focuses on Nohr and Hoshido. Although the rest of the kingdoms found in the game are pretty important, they are often overlooked. People usually consider them as filler parts, or the game itself does not give them the emphasis they deserve. An example of this is the Ice Tribe, which despite having an interesting concept, is reduced to a joke whose main classes are a maid and a butler.

Rinkah reminds us that conflicts within the Fire Emblem saga impact more than the main territories of the game. They also impact other adjacent territories. In this article, I want to delve deeper into Rinkah’s role in the game. Likewise, I want to talk more in-depth about the mechanics that make her a good choice for Fire Emblem Fates multiplayer. While many people forget it, Fates is one of the few Fire Emblem games with relatively well-done multiplayer. Inside said multiplayer, Rinkah is one of the best characters. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Important Information to Know About Rinkah

  • Level: 4
  • Health: 20
  • Strength: 8
  • Magic: 2
  • Skill: 6
  • Speed: 8
  • Luck: 5
  • Defense: 10
  • Resistance: 3
  • Movement: 5
  • Special Ability:  Fiery Blood, Seal Resistance
  • Weapon: Axe-E
  • Equipped items: Brass Club
  • Class: Oni Savage

One of the first things that can be appreciated about Rinkah is that she belongs to a unique class of Fire Emblem Fates: Oni Savage. Not only is it a class unique to this game that hasn’t appeared in any other game, but it’s also a class unique to the Birthright version. And one of the things I like the most about Rinkah is this class and what it means. At first, people may see Rinkah and think she is just another design with only fan service in mind. Still, the reality is that it is a fascinating design.

Rinkah is based on Japanese mythology. The design’s origin is in the legend of the Onis, magical beings with superhuman strength. Rinkah is one of the strongest characters in the game and her signature weapon is the Club, since most Onis use clubs made of trees in the original Japanese legend. This further highlights how Rinkah relates to the original Japanese legend.

In terms of stats, this also has much to do with the legend. The character has excellent physical strength and great physical defense. This is because the Onis were considered invincible monsters. She also has excellent luck, speed, and skill stats. This is because Onis were considered to be cunning creatures that could hide from humans thanks to their intellect. Finally, the fact that she has two magic points and a 25% growth is also a reference to the original Japanese folklore legend. Oni were magical creatures known as Yokai. This is why Rinkah’s concept of being an Oni Savage is one of the most interesting. It takes the fundamentals of the legend and brings them into a playable mechanic. I think Rinkah’s design is one of the most original ones in all fire emblem history.

Rinkah Background

Rinkah

One of the things that may come as a surprise about Rinkah is that she is a princess. Yes, that’s right. Rinkah is a princess. She is the daughter of the current Oni Chieftain of the flame tribe. That means that she is the heir to the flame tribe’s government. Therefore, while the tribe does not have a system in which kings, queens, and princes exist as such (or maybe it does), technically speaking, she is the princess of said tribe.

Because of her status as the future ruler of the flame tribe, she received military training from a young age. Likewise, she was schooled in Flame tribe culture, which causes her to be less friendly, unlike other characters in the game. She prefers her own company, dedicating most of her free time to training and becoming the best version of herself. She is very strict with her training because she thinks that becoming the strongest version of herself is the only way to become the best leader for her tribe.

Although she appears to be a tough character who doesn’t want to be friends with anyone, the reality is that she can be considered very sensitive and pleasant. This can be seen in most of the interactions with the other characters. Another thing that many people don’t know about her is that she loves food. During her interactions with Oboro, they mention that she is the person who eats the most out of the whole army, even not using any eating utensils. Overall, Rinkah is a fascinating character who tries to look tenacious and avoid any sign of weakness. Although she seems to be a bit rude at first glance, the truth is that she is a great ally.

Flame Tribe Background

One of the few things that are really interesting about Fire Emblem Awakening is its excellent worldbuilding. Despite that, it’s a shame that most of that good worldbuilding is wasted because most of the story focuses on the conflict between Nohr and Hoshido. This makes sense since they are the most prominent nations in the game. Still, it would be interesting to spend more time developing how the rest of the nations in the game have alliances with such large nations. Leaving that aside, the Flame tribe is one of those nations with an alliance with Hoshido.

Technically speaking, the Flame Tribe is not an ally of Hoshido nor a vassal kingdom. Unlike the Ice tribe, which is a vassal kingdom of Nohr, and the wind tribe, which is part of the kingdom of Hoshido, the Flame Tribe is a tribe that has remained neutral. They don’t belong to either continent, managing to remain neutral throughout the history of both kingdoms. Even so, it is essential to mention that the Flame Tribe does have a strategic alliance with Hoshido since Nohr has tried to invade them in the past. Because of this, although they are not part of the kingdom of Hoshido, they send their warriors to fight in that army. That is why Rinkah is in the Hoshido army at the beginning of the game.

One of the most interesting things about the Flame Tribe is that, unlike Nohr and Hoshido, they don’t venerate the original dragon. The Flame tribe generates the god of flame. They do this by keeping a sacred flame lit at all times. This is because when Nohr tried to invade them in the past, they extinguished the sacred flame. When Nohr did that, the volcano in which they lived erupted immediately, and since then they’ve tried to leave it lit at all times.

Is Rinkah a Good Character to Play Online?

Rinkah art

The reality is, it depends on your play style. One problem that Rinkah has online is that she requires a lot of time to get the right amount of stats. Unlike other options that only need to go through one or two classes, Rinkah must go through at least 3. On top of that, you also have to invest a lot of time and experience points. This is because if you leave her in her original class, Rinkah is not a good option in multiplayer due to her limited growth. The only growth we could consider pretty good is her defense growth and magic attack growth. However, the rest of the stats are relatively low.
Suppose you are looking for a playstyle that generates physical damage, then yes. In that case, Rinkah can be your best option. You have to change her classes, but once you do, you will be able to cover all her weaknesses without much trouble. Suppose you want a wall that can withstand any kind of attack (either physical or magical). In that case, Rinkah is also a perfect option because her base class is, in fact, the definition of a wall, with good overall stats in defense and magic resistance. Still, it can be a bit of a bad build because you won’t be able to attack directly.
The good thing about the Rinkah Hero Build is that Rinkah gets enough attack capacity to perform withering blows. That, added to her abilities, makes her a unit with a constant attack as a base. Overall, this build is a perfect option; therefore, you should consider creating it, even if it takes a long time. Rinkah’s stats when she peaks are some of the best in the whole saga.

How to Transform Rinkah Into the Best Hero

Rinkah is unfeasible to be a magic unit. This is because although she has a good evolution and growth rate in her magic stats, she still falls short compared to other characters in the game. With that in mind, the main thing you should focus on is turning Rinkah into a physical attack character. I’m not saying to turn her into a Charlotte 3.0 by any means, but to turn her into a competent physical attacker. The main thing we have to do is to turn her into a character that covers her shortcomings with her skills. You have to focus on her Skill, Speed, and Defense stats. This is mainly because her Defense stat is one of the best in the game.

Her personal skill is one of the best, as it allows Rinkah to give 4 points of damage as long as she has at least one point of HP less than the maximum. This is very good as it allows her attack to become devastating. The first thing you have to do is to get Deathblow since it increases Rinkah critical by 20%. Then, you must turn her into a Blacksmith to get the Lancebreaker ability. This will increase her evasion by 20% when she fights spears, giving her a strategic advantage.

After that, you must ensure that Rinkah and Charlotte reach the A+ friendship rank. This is so she can get the friendship seal and the Berserker class. Rinkah gets the Axefaire skill that gives her more attack points when using axes. Then marry her to Hinata or Ryoma to get the Swordmaster class with the alliance seal. In this class, we want her to learn Swordfaire. Finally, you have to take her to the Hero class. In that class, you have to get the Sun skill. With all these skills covered, Rinkah will be able to face any enemy with ease.

The Abilities of Rinkah Hero

Fire Emblem Rinkah

She has the following personal ability:

  • Fiery Blood: If Rinkah’s HP is less than full, she will deal +4 damage.

When you use the friendship seal with Charlotte to gain access to Berserker class, you gain this ability at level 15:

  • Axefaire: Damage +5 when equipped with an Axe or Club

When you marry her to either Ryoma or Hinata she gains level 5:

  • Astra: Deals 5 consecutive hits at half damage.

And at level 15:

  • Swordfaire: Damage +5 when equipped with a Sword or Katana

Once you become a blacksmith, you will gain at level 15:

  • Lancebreaker: Hit rate and Avoid +50 when the enemy is equipped with a Lance or Naginata

And at level 5 as an Oni chieftain you gain:

  • Death Blow: When user triggers the battle, Critical rate +20

Finally, when you become a hero you gain at level 5:

  • Sol: Recover HP equal to half the damage dealt to the enemy

Rinkah Hero Best Build for the Endgame and Multiplayer

  • Level: 10

  • Strength: 40
  • Magic: 15
  • Skill: 70
  • Speed: 60
  • Luck: 40
  • Defense: 55
  • Resistance: 20
  • Movement: 8
  • Special Ability:
    • Fiery Blood: If Rinkah’s HP is less than full, she will deal +4 damage.
    • Axefaire: Damage +5 when equipped with an Axe or Club
    • Swordfaire: Damage +5 when equipped with a Sword or Katana
    • Lancebreaker: Hit rate and Avoid +50 when the enemy is equipped with a Lance or Naginata

    • Sol: Recover HP equal to half the damage dealt to the enemy
    • Astra: Deals 5 consecutive hits at half damage.
  • Weapon: Axe-A and Sword A
  • Equipped items: Steel Sword, Killing Edge, Killer Axe, Brave Sword, Concoction.
  • Class: Hero

In the main story, it may not be as necessary, but in multiplayer, this build is one of the best. In the main story, you will see that when using this build, most of the characters you will face will fall quickly. You will have an advantage over most of the weapon triangle. Likewise, you can give more importance to lancebreaker because you can get better coverage from possible attacks with spears, which is already an advantage for Rinkah. Likewise, the equipped items make her a lethal unit.

Rinkah is even better in the multiplayer case because she becomes the perfect counter to most of the characters in the multiplayer. This is because she wields two weapons simultaneously: axes and swords. Likewise, with most of her abilities, Rinkah obtains a strategic advantage and the possibility of becoming a mixed attack and defense unit. This becomes more notable by using skills like Sol, which allows she to have more offensive positions without being easily eliminated.

The only problem that can be pretty strong for Rinkah is that she is vulnerable to swords if you are not careful with your weapons. If you use the wrong weapons in the wrong place on the map, Rinkah can be left vulnerable to attacks from enemy units.

Rinkah as an Enemy (Conquest Only)

Emblem Fire Rinka

  • Level: 12
  • Health: 28
  • Strength: 15
  • Magic: 5
  • Skill: 12
  • Speed: 13
  • Luck: 8
  • Defense: 13
  • Resistance: 4
  • Movement: –
  • Special Ability:  Fiercy Blood and Resistance Seal
  • Weapon: Axe-C
  • Equipped items: Steel Mace
  • Class: Oni Savage

In the Conquest route, because you don’t align yourself with Hoshido, Rinkah becomes your enemy. Her enemy stats leave a lot to be desired and are an example of how not to create a character. This is because she focuses on stats that don’t favor her and leaves open other stats that could be much more important to her. However, that is understandable; she is a CPU-controlled character, so it does not consider the best build in the game but simply the most straightforward build to use.

How to Defeat Rinkah (Conquest only)

You face Rinkah on two different occasions. The first happens in chapter two, and the second in chapter 11 of the game. The reality is that not only is it not a complicated confrontation, but it is one of the easiest fights in the game. The only advantage you have is that you can get a lot of experience using a small hack in which you constantly attack Hinata. As far as Rinkah is concerned, the reality is that all you have to do is attack her with a unit that uses swords to eliminate her reasonably simply. In addition, you will get a Seal of Resistance when you defeat her.

The Best Way to Level up Rinkah

Because you play with her in Fire Emblem Birthright and Fire Emblem Revelations, the reality is that you don’t have much trouble getting experience. It’s actually one of the easiest things in the world. All you have to do is take her on skirmishes so she can accumulate experience in an extremely simple way. If you want her to have even more experience, you can take her with you in all the specific missions of the story.
However, another way to increase Rinkah’s experience level is to use pair-ups. This is because, in this way, she can not only get a lot of experience points, but she will also be able to rank up her relationships with other characters quite easily.

Final Thoughts on Rinkah

Rinkah is one of the few characters in Fire Emblem Fates that I can genuinely say I enjoy playing with. She is a character that has an incredible design that also has good multiplayer potential. Unlike other options in the game, her design, her story, and everything she represents has a coherence that goes beyond a simple “she looks pretty.” And the truth is that I consider Rinkah to be one of my favorite characters, not only in Fire Emblem Fates but also in Fire Emblem in general, for everything she represents.

Rinkah is a fascinating character. One of the things that most caught my attention within the game is that almost no one used her in multiplayer mode because they did not consider her viable or they thought that she had minimal growth. However, after playing with her on several occasions, I can say without fear of being wrong that Rinkah is an outstanding character who can become a crucial member of your army without any problem.
